William Afton, an Engineer of the British origin, moves both his business and company to the Polish People's Republic country, moving there with his family, creating Fredbear's Family Dinner pizzeria in the late '70s with his friend Henry Emily.

After years of fruitful partnership and success over all, tragedy strikes, the death of William's only daughter and youngest son: Elizabeth Afton and Gregory Afton, as well as the fatal car accident of his wife, Clara Afton. Broken down, falls into depression. He accidentally discovers substance, he names Remnent, seeing what effect the substance does have on the human body, not wanting to lose anyone else, becomes a murderer, kills five children

The son leaves him. Can't stand loneliness. Trying to release his anger, years later he decides to destroy everything related to his past, forgetting what it is that possesses these old costumes. By destroying them, he frees the trapped souls of his victims. In an attempt to escape, he goes to the Safe room and hide in his Spring Bonnie Animatronic costume, which turned out to be a mistake, paying with his life.

By consuming Remnent, his soul was trapped within his body. Since then, no more William, birth of Springtrap.

Remains unconscious for the next 10 years only to wake up to the sound of the approaching presence of Mangle, the main character of the book
